About the  position:  

JFF is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth and is strategically organizing both to scale its impact and to support the wellbeing of our staff. As a result, we’ve recently created several new positions and departments to build a solid foundation for growth in support of our mission to drive equitable economic advancement for all. This role is part of a new function and is an outstanding opportunity for someone excited about building a new capacity for JFF. 

The Senior Director, Resource Management will lead a newly formed Resource Management team within our Solutions Design and Delivery (SD&D) group.  Overseeing a small team and working collaboratively across the organization, the Senior Director will strategically plan for and deploy talent across projects in order to leverage expertise and capabilities, optimize the distribution of workloads, and support talent development within JFF’s Field Implementation team.   

Under the guidance of the Vice President, Solutions Design & Delivery, you will play a critical role in providing strategic resourcing assignments to initiatives and projects led by JFF’s Centers and Practices, JFFLabs, JFF’s policy and advocacy team, and other groups who are driving programmatic strategy, producing thought leadership, and generating solutions.  You will be accountable for creating and implementing the systems and processes to match staff with appropriate skills, expertise, and interests to opportunities and projects across the organization. Additionally, you will be looked upon to maintain relevant systems with accurate resourcing data, and work with various stakeholders across the organization to ensure that all projects are appropriately staffed. 

In this new function at JFF, you will bring JFF’s organizational design vision to life by implementing new systems and processes for allocating our people resources.  You will bring others along as the organization adapts to a new operating model and a new way of working; and by building and scaling a well-functioning resource management function, you will play a critical role in enabling JFF to further its impact in the field. 


What you’ll do:  

Resource planning operations and execution: 

Develop and implement effective resource planning processes, systems, and resource-related capabilities that meet the needs of all stakeholders and internal clients. 
Collaborate with Field Implementation Team leads to fill requests for project support, subject matter experts, and content specialists, ensuring that assignments balance staff members’ interests and professional development needs with the needs of project deliverables and clients. 
Own process, data and tools to enable skills capacity allocation, and project capacity needs for strategic workforce planning.  
Provide JFF leaders with analysis, insight, and interpretation of resource trends to inform future planning. 
Identify process gaps and implement process improvements to facilitate the efficient resourcing of JFF staff across the Solutions Group, JFFLabs, and other teams. 
Build, scale and lead the Resource Management team: 

Clearly communicate the vision and expectations for team members while cultivating trust, connection, and cohesion. 
Coach team members toward high performance, growth, and accountability and support their long-term career development.  
Ensure a learning culture within the team that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.  
Build trust and confidence in the new Resource Management function among programmatic leaders who are used to a different operating model.  
Embody JFF’s commitment to DEI, including an ability to manage across lines of difference. 
Strategic Leadership within the Solutions Design & Delivery group: 

Identify and define key staffing metrics to assist in the creation of meaningful reporting & analytics that manage capacity and forecast staffing needs. 
Build reports and communications rhythms that enable pipeline information to inform forecasting analysis.  
Continually evaluate new technology and reporting capabilities to meet evolving business planning needs in partnership with JFF leadership teams. 
Collaborate closely with leaders across JFF on workforce planning, and the evaluation and implementation of tools that enable continued growth of Resource Management and support of strong, proactive staffing plans. 
Build and maintain partnerships across teams to leverage assets and improve the efficient, transparent, equitable and effective functioning of the organization 

Who you are:   

You bring 10+ years of experience with success overseeing a resource management function, preferably in a consulting or other professional services environment. 
You have familiarity with, and understanding of, key resource management metrics, reporting, trends, and tools and can gain buy in from others in implementing new systems with fidelity. 
You have experience leading change management efforts and have been successful in helping teams, functions, and organizations navigate transformative change and growth; you know how to balance honoring what has come before while energizing others about new opportunities.  
You know how to move from idea to implementation, navigating through ambiguity to create and operationalize strong, effective solutions. 
You are an experienced people manager and are able to coach, mentor and support career development for staff. 
You are capable of building successful and trust-based relationships on and across teams, using data, analysis and clear communications to influence stakeholders at various levels. 
You have a high proficiency with technology, and can identify and implement necessary analytic tools to support resource planning; you are able to connect the dots between multiple databases/tools/reports utilized across the organization.  
You can work creatively and analytically to balance multiple priorities, tasks, and sophisticated issues using logical and efficient processes. 
You are skilled at anticipating bottlenecks, making trade-offs, and balancing strategic priorities, people, and impact versus technical constraints. 
You possess high energy and passion for JFF’s mission and the ability to apply JFF’s core values to all areas of your work.
