Building a durable process that is adaptable to changing market and business conditions is a common objective to every business process, and resource management is no exception! To help in this regard, during our Power UP in the fall of 2021 we discussed good change management and continuous improvement best practices to help you keep your RM capabilities fresh and responsive to your business needs. Since the RMI’s start in 2016 we have also learned much about how our members are doing in implementing their RM capabilities and we are pleased to report the industry is making good progress!
An area of need we have observed that needs additional focus is the ‘durable’ part of process and automation design and support. Future proofing your RM/WFM processes requires special attention to a number of different aspects of your approach to better RM. That is why I am dedicating my keynote presentation at this year’s Resource Management Global Symposium to this very issue – how to Future Proof your Resource Management capabilities.
During my presentation I will move beyond our ‘best practice’ list and identify 5 steps to future proofing resource management. With input from member RM implementations over the nearly 6 years since the RMI was formed, this actionable content will help your company build a more durable approach to resource and workforce management for the long term. We hope to see you in Dallas April 28-29!
What is Reactive Resource Management and Why Is It Holding You Back?
At its core, resource management is all about understanding the pool of talent at your company and making sure they are put to good use. But in practice, it can be much more challenging. Many complicating factors mean that managing your teams effectively takes hard work. It can be easy for managers to fall into a practice of reactive resource management – a tendency to only manage teams in the moment, solving today’s problems, instead of planning out assignments and utilization far enough into the future to prevent major problems from occurring.
Our RMCP® spotlight interview is with Alex Protani, Professional Services Operations Analyst at Tenable. Alex shares how migrating to a new PSA tool has been one of her biggest resource management challenges and to overcome these challenges you have to understand the impact that it will make across the organization.
