The Resource Management Institute is dedicated to the advancement of resource and workforce management thought leadership, best practices and standards, globally recognized credentials that certify resource management expertise, and tools and resources necessary for effective and efficient management of human capital intensive businesses.
The RMI hosts regular webinars and both virtual and in-person events focused on exploring leading resource management practices, tools, and techniques.
The RMI conducts short research surveys to help professionals compare and contrast their Resource Management operations to their peer groups. Participants who complete these short surveys will receive the consolidated data back after the survey closes.
Welcome to the RMCP® Tool Kit! This is an online portal for RMCP® credential holders to access the RMCP® Resource Center, Dashboard, and other valuable resources to help with best practice execution in resource management.
A year ago, I wrote in this newsletter that resource management is the long pole in the tent when it comes to overall project performance and efficient utilization of human capital. And where the typical project-based service team spends three-quarters of their budget on people, being good at resource management should be job #1! None of that has changed and good resource management is now the lynchpin for making the most of your human capital-intensive service businesses. So, we decided to keep our annual, virtual event focused on how we all get better at resource management.
Contractors vs Full-Timers – When Do You Trade Off?
No two professional services firms are exactly alike. But, there are many commonalities shared by every business. And today, one thing that every professional services organization has in common is the continual balancing act between internal full-time staff and freelance contract workers. Sure, there are differences in skill, experience, and speed that differentiate your full-time and contract employees, but the choice between these two resourcing options can often be difficult on a task-by-task basis.
This month the RMCP® spotlight shines on Frank Craven, Director RMO at Kearney & Company. Frank shares what characteristics he thinks a good resource manager should have – hint: you can’t fake the passion required in Resource Management.
This year RMI Connect, our unique, virtual forum focused on helping project-based service delivery teams with improving Resource and Workforce Management, will be held on October 4 & 6. This year’s theme is Accelerating Resource Management Maturity: Enabling the Right Person in the Right Place at the Right Time. The theme recognizes the growing need for developing better capabilities to consistently align demand for work with the proper resources to do that work.
Research collected from this fourth survey on RM automation tools will expand on previous surveys with continued focus on how satisfied respondents are with their PSA/PPM/RPM tool(s), what functions they are using the tool for, how satisfied are they with the RM functionality of their tool, prioritized needs, and if they are still maintaining the use of spreadsheets to assist with resource management. It only takes a few minutes to complete the survey.
