About the RMI

What Is the Resource Management Institute?

The Resource Management Institute is the global professional body for resource and workforce management.  We provide best practices, global standards, professional certifications, and tools that help organizations deploy their people with purpose—driving greater consistency, efficiency, and agility.

Like a think tank, we lead with research, insights, and thought leadership that shape the discipline. But we go further—setting industry standards, certifying professionals, delivering education, and equipping organizations with the practical tools they need to plan, deploy, and manage their people with precision and impact.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate and empower organizations to plan and manage their workforce with greater consistency, predictability, and efficiency—through education, standards, and certification.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where people are deployed with purpose, and organizations operate with greater agility and efficiency.

History of the RMI

The RMI was established in 2016 by RTM Consulting, LLC, a Belcan Company, to provide the resource and workforce management community a vehicle to advance the discipline of resource and workforce management, and further the interests of the people who make up this community and the companies they work for. A pioneering company in resource and workforce management with years of experience providing consulting and training services to companies around the world, RTM Consulting observed an ongoing need for the standardization of resource and workforce management strategies, practices and processes, so it developed three paths to meeting this need:

1. Introduced Just-in-Time Resourcing® in 2007. Just-in-Time Resourcing® has become the RMI’s brand for human capital management solutions to help services organizations build the right set of capabilities to accomplish the most efficient use of it’s most strategic asset – its people.

2. Developed the Resource Management Certified Professional (RMCP)® program in 2014 to promote and support competency development for resource and workforce management professionals.

3. Created the Resource Management Institute (RMI) in 2016 to provide a community for thought leadership, leading practices, practical tools, and networking opportunities in order to help resource and workforce management professionals continue to evolve and better manage human capital and utilization.
